Did anyone see the small movie "My Kid Could Paint That" on the NYTimes website today? I just did. Firstly, I have to acknowledge how much the collective unconscious is kind of freaking me out these days. But that is another topic. There is a child prodigy painting in New York. And there is a documentary about her, exploring topics of exploitation and also doubt that she really paints by herself. I don't know the answers. But I think children have a lot to teach us about art, its definition and its creation.
My daughter did paint these. I love how you can see the way she is exploring with depth (which does not translate to a computer screen very well) and how she is experimenting with light. All this on her own. No coaching. No teaching. No helping. Just a girl and her process. Unschooling her little heart onto the paper.
One more thing. This is as true for kids as it is for adults. The better the supplies, the better and more lasting the results.

I'd like to commission a painting by your young talents!
They are beautiful.
