Forget the excellent Homeschool Science Fair t shirts (designed by someone fabulous!) Notice how these kids love each other. And they like to play together. And they don't really get "boys against girls". And they don't feel the need to shove each other out of the way for food, toys, attention, time, information, the best seat, being first, or supremacy in general. They have cross words occasionally but that is only because they learned that tone from me. I would like to take credit for this sibling harmony. We do try to foster harmony. But I think they enjoy each other because they have not been taught to compete. And they see, intrinsically, how they benefit from harmony. The implications are big. For homeschooled kids, harmony and simpatico offer more reward than ego driven competition.

My two (six years apart) are good friends. What other almost 20 year old man do you know who will just decide on the spur of the moment to take his almost 14 year old sister out to lunch "just because we like to hang out"?
They both still hug their parents, say, "I love you" to us, and 99% of the time, we all live happily in the same (small, cluttered, shrinking) starter house.
Ahh. Homeschooling. And yes, I really believe it's homeschooling that has allowed their loving hearts to grow without the skewed growth and atrophy of parts which can be caused by life in the shark pool.

If you hate these things, ignore it, but I just tagged you for a meme.
