Frankie Four Fingers Pecan Swirl Scones
"I'm not in Rome, Doug, I'm in a rush."

1 & 1/2 cups whole wheat flour *
1 & 1/2 cups white flour
1 Tbs baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar

Mix dry ingredients and cut in 3 Tbs butter
In a measuring cup beat one egg and add enough buttermilk to make a generous cup and 3/4 of liquid. If you don't have buttermilk substitute sweet milk plus a Tbs or two of vinegar.
Dough should be wet and sloppy.  Roll it out on a heap of flour.  (This dough is too wet to roll.)

Mix currents and chopped pecans with brown sugar.  Spread this topping on the dough.  Roll dough into a log.  (It won't really roll.)  Chop your roll into generous sections. (This is nearly impossible.)  Carefully place each section on a cookie sheet.  (Actually its more like scooping each section.)  Admire how artfully sloppy the whole thing is.  Worry that it will fail.   Become fairly sure it will fail.  Remember you forgot the cinnamon.  Vow to add cinnamon next time.  Bake in a hot oven till done.
*All measurements approximate.  Sometimes in life you have to gamble.
