Raising a new puppy reminds me of my old smoking days. I have to stop what ever I am doing and run outside, barefooted, to stand around on the earth for 5 minutes. I do this approximately 20 times a day. Being outside 20 times day for five minutes is rather lovely.

On the other hand, there are 24 hours in every day. 60 minutes x 24 =1440 minutes. 1440/5 minutes =288 opportunities to go out /12 hours for sleep =24 working opportunities to go outside for five minutes. Which, AHAH, equals 20 cigarettes plus 4. And those spare 4 exactly equal the number of cigarettes you will invariably feel you need to smoke in your allotted 12 hours. But we all know there are only 20 in a pack. Much in the same way a puppy will invariably feel he needs to pee 4 times more than he will be let out.

Luckily puppies grow up quickly. Much faster than I, judging by how long it took me to finally quit. Jackson will master this in a few weeks. I wasn't grown enough to quit until I was 28. How old is that in dog years?

Katherine, you are just too funny. And I truly admire your intellectual thinking capacity along with your blogging. I've had a couple of challenging days here and it is refreshing to remember that even I can choose to take the time to ponder upon ideas that are not vital to basic survival.

Gaela, if I'm not careful, I'll start writing directly to you. In fact, that's the think I fight on this blog, writing/or not directly to the people I know irl.

Hey, call me if you need me to come get you. I'll drag you down the hill to my house. Then you can come stand around outside with me. : )love, K

Potty training a puppy is definitely a lot of work. Sounds like you have the right attitude, though. It just about killed me, LOL.

Thanks Katherine. I really do need to come over. I'd like to meet Jackson... and standing around? ... well that just sounds like fun. Today is always a better day too.
