Sarah Palin is a caricature of serious professional politicians, most of whom spend years studying the law and participating in the legislative process at many levels. She is an affront to the very idea of professionalism and the notion that one would actually need competence in order to act as a professional in any field, much less as the leader of the free world. Her choice reveals Mr. McCain’s contempt for the American democratic process, the American people, educated professional women who work hard to acquire the competencies necessary to compete in the world of work, minorities who have suffered innumerable indignities over the history of our country in order to be included in the political process at any level, and a caricature of Evangelical Christians who sincerely attempt to follow Christ. The Christ I know and love wants our hearts and not our capitulation. Inasmuch as past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior and this behavior on the part of Mr. McCain and the Republican party can only be a foretaste of the cynicism and fascist fanaticism in store for us in the future. I am insulted by the Republican party’s bold parody of the electoral process of this great country, casting the process as an episode of “American Idol” and dishonoring it with shameless lies.

My sentiments exactly. Would this woman be considered qualified for VP positions on the boards of Kentucky Fried Chicken, NASCAR, NRA, or the National Youth Hockey League? I seriously doubt it. McCain should be made a laughing stock for this choice, not president.
