A Blacksmith In The House

Henry went to work in the forge last night. The blacksmith, Mr Snow, said that hundreds of years ago nail making was a job for women and children. Apparently, they would make upwards of 800 a day. I think Henry and Joe were humbled by the thought. Apparently, making one was quite a challenge. But Henry says, "I like hitting nails with hammers!" And he did a darn good job of it too, especially for his first time.

Mr. Snow made key rings, such as this nifty leaf one, while he was letting Henry find his arms. He is a good teacher and a generous man. Thank you Mr. Snow!

You must be so proud of him. How cool.

The women must have made the nails in their spare time. :)
