A point made in "comments" regarding homeschool oversight that is so good I have to pull it up here:

"The thing that needs fixing is not the homeschooling requirements. It is the mental health/social service system that is broken. " ~Mommy Lion

SCREAM IT FROM THE MOTHERFUCKING ROOF TOPS. OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IS BROKEN. OUR MENTAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IS BEYOND BROKEN, ITS BARELY EXISTENT. OMG, IT MAKES ME SO ANGRY I COULD SCREAM. I AM SCREAMING. SORRY YOU WERE MURDERED BY A PROFOUNDLY SICK WOMAN, DEAR LITTLE WARD OF THE STATE. SORRY WE CAN FUND WAR BUT NOT HEALTH. SORRY LITTLE FELLA.

It's completely heartbreaking isn't it. The system Doesn't WORK...but no one will fix it. So we cry. And our hands are so often tied. We try to make a difference here and there and sometimes we do...but the big picture still sucks.

I'm sure you read Doc's blog on the subject...and she put it so well that all I could say in a comment is: What She Said. Trite...but how do you improve upon her words??!!

I like your anger. We should be angry.

Your anger is well placed. You are so right, Mommylion and Maria are so right. But the anger is only the first step to creating change, isn't it? Where do we go from here? This country's systems are broken in so many areas. I often wonder if there is really a way to fix it all.

And oh, Katherine, my blog is back up - kind of. If you have a moment.....please be kind.

It's so true. We're lucky to have the health care we do here in Canada and yet some of our politicians seem to think privatising like the States is a better idea. All I can do is shake my head.

I hope there is some way your system can change for the better.

Hey Rae,

I can't comment on your blog because you have to "enable comments" first. Looks like a good start, though. : ) K

Thanks, K. Sometimes it's the little things that make all the difference. :-)
