"Remember, art is not about artwork. Art is about life. To become a better artist, first and foremost become a better person – not in the moral sense, but rather in the complete sense. Remember that the greatest artist is not the one with the best technique, but the one with the most human heart." ~Lens Magazine 21 Ways To Take A Better Picture
A window into mothermind today. Observing my emotions as I make breakfast. Practicing detachment. Here we go: "hum....calm. Annoyed. Crabby. Flair of Anger. calm. annoyed. annoyed. happy. mad. love. mean spirited humor. no wait, that is judging. judgment. annoyed. observant. calm. annoyed. lazy. inspired. calm. annoyed......"
When you watch your emotions flit through yourself and you start to label them as they come, you begin to really feel unattached to them. OH MY GOD. This Buddhist stuff works! ...Happy!

Ah - that could be my mind there! And yes, this stuff really can work!
Wow...you had all those emotions just while making breakfast? That's amazing. My emotional state during the making of the morning meal sounds more like television snow. Just a lot of television snow until the coffee kicks in.
Tomorrow I'll try to pay more conscious attention to my actual emotions and see what I come up with. :)
Love the quote - do you happen to know who wrote the article? I'd love to source it in my commonplace book.
Another neat thought trick - ask yourself "who would I be without this thought?"
Poppins
Poppins, A person named Brooks Jensen wrote that. I found it following a link off of Blue Yonder's site. I dig Katie Byron's message. For some reason Pema Chodron says it in a way that gets deeper into me.
Regular Mom, I was astounded to see how many emotions flew through me when I really paid attention. That fact alone greatly diminished their importance. They started to seem like raucous clambering children running through the playground. No need to pay them any mind...
Also Poppins, I knew that quote would speak to you! : )
Cool, thanks for looking that up. I'm going to track down Chodron to see what he/she has written.
