There Is No Uncaring In Unschooling
"He'd fooled us. He'd been learning all along--we just hadn't been able to see it because it didn't follow from our "teaching." It came from doing, sharing, and observing, from osmotically absorbing what was around him. I recalled that he once said to Mark, who was giving him snowboard instruction, "Dad, would you stop trying to teach me and just let me learn?"

STOP THE PRESSES...you're there but you're HERE!!!! Yeah! It all looks so beautiful and peaceful and I am so flippin happy for you.
And since I know you really ARE a mermaid...did you find that shell or was it in the room. Cuz you can't write stuff about a shell and put up pics of a shell and not tell me EVERYTHING.
Hey, that was ambiguous of me. My dear Mer-Ry-Maid found that shell on the beach in the first 15 mins we were here. Its HUGE. Biggest I ever saw in NC. She is so excited. The weather here is delightfully overcast. Occasional rain. Warm breezes. Warm water.
Henry was so excited last night he woke up at 1:30am. We ended up grabbing a can of soda to share and sitting on the beach stargazing. He said, "It really freaks me out to think that each one of those stars are as big as our sun." And the stars were drifting in and out of the clouds. And the Moon was obscured. And the ocean kept rolling. And I got to sit there on the beach with my almost 9 year old son.
Beautiful. Wish y'all were here.
Oh, my. So beautiful! How wonderful for you guys.
